Everyone asks questions, we know. But they usually ask a question that has been answered about fifty times before. So, in hopes of relieving the admins of having to answer the same questions over and over, here is a thread that hopefully covers everything.
Q. Where are the rules?[/IMG]
A. The rules are located in the rules board and possess the title “Rules and Regulations {MUST READ}”.
Q. Where can I get sorted?
A. There is a board called “Becoming A Member” which is where you will be sorted after completing the specified application.
Q. It's password protected! Where can I find the password?
A. As said in the description of the board, you can find the password to the application board in the rules. The password is hidden in there somewhere, forcing you to read the rules. This is to help you enjoy your stay at Magical Purpose
Q. Who are the administrators of the board?
A. The current administrators of Magical Purpose are Marc, Amber, Dan, Tori, and Nevin. Their display names, if you should ever have URGENT questions, are: Head of Administration {Marc or Amber}, Headmaster Marco Brifto {Marc}, Professor Esme Cifuentes {Amber}, Ronald Gumbligger {Dan}, The Sorting Hat {Tori or Nevin}, Abigail Sciuto {Tori}, and Nevin Joyce {Nevin}.

Q. Why are some names in italics?
A. The italicized names mean that those people are either prefects or head of houses on Magical Purpose.
Q. I need a graphic made. Can I someone on the board do it for me?
A. Absolutely! We have a whole board full of people wanting to help. Once you’re sorted, you'll be able to see the Graphics board where you can go and request a graphic from our talented graphic makers. (Remember to post in the Celebrity Claim!)
Q. How can I get a custom title?
A. Just ask for one by PMing an admin. However, we do ask that you do NOT ask for something amazingly long or continually PM us about it. Do not ask for more than one.
Q. How can I move up a year?
A. As each term passes, you will move up a year. The more active you are, the better the chance you move up. Please do not beg to advance a year and give some sappy excuse about why you should be moved up. It only makes us really mad.
Q. How long is term?
A. Term usually lasts for about three months.
Q. How do I sign up for classes?
A. You can sign up for classes by going to one of the classroom boards and replying in the sign up thread the professor has created. If there is not a sign up sheet in there, it usually means the professor has not yet been hired for that class. If term is already in session and you just joined, you can still sign up for classes and you can just post in the next class; you will be excused from missed lessons if you are a NEW member (character).
Q. How do I get house points?
A. You can get house points in a variety of ways. You get 50 points every time you advertise for Magical Purpose somewhere or affiliate with Magical Purpose and you also get 50 points every time you bring someone to the site. Good deeds earn you house points and bad actions make you lose house points.
Q. Can I have more than one character?
A. Yes you can, as long as you'd be active with your old and new one, and have a separate account for each character. You can have as many characters as you want, but you have to keep them ALL active.
Q. How do I get an image in my signature?
A. You take your pictures URL (by right clicking it>Properties) then paste it in between these ->
Q. How do I change the skin? It’s not like the default is bad, but…
A. Go to your profile and scroll down to where you see the drop down box beside the words "Select Skin." Then choose which one you want.
Q. How can I change my display name?
A. You can change your display name by going to your profile and modifying your name where it says "Display Name". Type in whatever you want your name to be, and voila!
Q. How can I become a staff member?
A. If you would like to be a teacher assistant or professor, you can become one by applying in the appropriate thread in the “Becoming A Member” board (your character cannot be sorted). If you’re thinking more of prefect or head of house, you must be very active because those are picked by the admins.
Q. Do I have to buy stuff at Diagon Alley?
A. No, it's totally optional to do so.
Q. How do I know what month we are in?
A. The month you are in now in reality is the month currently on Magical Purpose. If we're in September, it's September on Magical Purpose.
Q. How do I find the latest news of Magical Purpose?
A. The news fader is a great way to start. It lists everything you need to know about the recent things happening on Magical Purpose. If you’re too lazy to watch the whole thing, the welcome box is also a great place to see the latest news.
Q. What does OOC mean?
A. OOC means Out Of Character (just like IC means In Character)
Q. Why can't I login?
A. There are three possible answers.
1) You have typed an incorrect user name or password.
2) You haven't registered yet. If you have registered and know that everything is typed properly, it means that you were deleted due to inactivity.
3) The board is in maintenance mode, in which only STAFF can login.
Q. I am a staff member and students aren't listening to me...what do I do?
A. If this happens, please tell one of the admins via PM. If you are a teacher or teacher assistant and this is happening to you, then please let me or one of the other admins know.
Q. When do we have dances?
A. We usually do them for the beginning and end of terms. We sometimes have them for holidays. And, if someone ever has a really good idea, we will have some random dance.
Q. I have a suggestion, where can I post it?
A. The Remembrall is where you can post any suggestions you may have. There is a special sub-board just for posting questions and such!
Q. Is there any way to introduce myself to the board?
A. Absolutely, once you’re sorted, you'll be able to see the OOC section of the board where you can introduce yourself in the Introductions board.
Q. Can I post spoilers?
A. Yes, however you MUST have the word "Spoilers" in the name of the thread. Otherwise, you will get a warning and your thread will be deleted.
Q. Where can I post out of character things?
A. In the out of character section of the board (which you can view all of once sorted).
Q. What kind of competitions does Magical Purpose have?
A. The competitions change throughout time, however there are many to name. I will just say if you keep up with what is happening on the site, you'll notice a lot of challenges, contests and competitions. A few of these may be writing contests, graphic contests, and just random other contests.
Q. What is a personal?
A. A personal is a place where you can keep track of your character's friends, enemies, relationships etc.
Q. Where can I post one?
A. The personals sub-board in the “Character Information” board.
Q. What is a mass PM?
A. A mass PM is a PM sent to ALL members of the board. They usually discuss important things dealing with the board. It would be to your best benefit if you read each mass PM thoroughly in order to obtain ANY information.
Q. Why are they sent?
A. To allow the whole board to know updates on the board, or some important information that we feel you need to know.
Q. Who accepts applications?
A. Who do you think? The admins accept the applications! The Sorting Hat specifically accepts student applications since it IS the sorting hat. Other applications are sorted by a wide array of people. Ronald Gumbligger is the main acceptor of professor and teacher assistant applications, but occasionally other admins will accept them. All other applications are accepted by any of the admins (usually whoever gets on first and is not feeling lazy xD)[/size][/blockquote]
