Has anyone else ever heard of this musical? I absolutely love it. I have listened to the original Broadway cast recording at least a million times! If you're wondering what on earth it is, then I can tell you. The first thing you'll need to know is the story of The Wizard of Oz. Then, take the Wicked Witch of the West and it's basically before, during, and after that story from her point of view. She was never truly wicked.

Yes, it is from Wicked. It's the song that Galinda (the good) sings to Elphaba whenever they finally become friends.

I'm going to see it in Feb! My mom got me tickets for my birthday! But I already know all the songs because I have the soundtrack.

I'm so jealous! I want to go see it so badly, but yeah, I doubt I'll get tickets for my birthday.
You'll have to update us on how it is on stage!

Oh I will. I've heard it's way different from the book, though. I read that a few years back, but I don't remember an awful lot.

Well, they did change quite a bit.
A) It's not nearly as dark, when Glinda and Elphaba see each other for the last time, they sing a song about how they have changed each other for good where as in the book Elphaba is angry at Glinda and refuses her last chance to talk to her.
B) Elphaba doesn't kill Madame Morrible
C) Elphaba doesn't go absolutely crazy (of course, it was understandable), only a little bit.
D) The tin man is boq because nessarose did it to him whenever he broke up with her (yes, they go out in the musical).
E) Elphaba and Glinda have a huge sense of humor.
F) The wizard isn't evil, he just doesn't want to be a nothing again, he even tries to save Elphaba from the title of Wicked Witch of the West whenever he learns of her being her daughter.
G) The love triangle between Sarima, Fiyero, and Elphaba is replaced with a love triangle between Glinda, Fiyero, and Elphaba.
H) Fiyero is confirmed as the scarecrow and he and Elphaba run away from Oz in the end (yes, she is melted, but she doesn't die, Fiyero is the only one that knows).
I) Fiyero can be played by a white person (makes me mad because the book makes it clear that he's black.
J) It doesn't say really anything about Liir
K) Nessarose has arms, but she's in a wheelchair.
L) Fiyero and Elphaba sex in a hidden room is taken out and replaced with a love song (really pretty love song) in a forest. Which actually makes more sense.
M) The do try to kill Fiyero, like in the book, but Elphaba actually succeeds in saving him.
N) Sarima and all her children are taken out. In fact, Elphaba is alone except with her flying monkey at Kiamo Ko.
O) The flying monkeys was an attempt to save them not an experiment.
There's more, I'm sure, but it's still really good if you can get over all of the change that's been made. It still keeps the meaning of the story and Elphaba and Glinda never see each other again, which is all the author of the book wanted kept beside the basic story.
Most of the stuff changed and taken out were changed and taken out because...well, it's a musical, and they wanted to put a brighter (not necessarily happier) tone to it.
It's good enough to break Broadway's record of gaining it's 14 million dollars of producing it in a little more than a year!
