so that's wherever you go
Nevin was heading home to her apartment. Normally, it was a lonely walk from wherever she happened to be, but tonight was different. Tonight Nevin had a brush with fate, again. Matthew just happened to be at the public owlery the same time that Nevin was. Surprisingly, everything went well. Actually, it was better than well. Nevin learned that all her silly avoiding was just that- silly. Matthew still had feelings for Nevin and simply thought that she hated him, and therefore, he was avoiding her as well. Although much didn't seem to happen, it was an eventful night, and it wasn't over yet.
Matthew, for whatever reason he chose- spur of the moment, chivalry, or what have you- offered to walk Nevin to wherever she wanted to go. Nevin wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to spend time with Matt again. In the past, a lot of their plans fell through, so Nevin wasn't going to let this one slip past just like all the times before and had told him that she was just going back to her apartment, but he was welcome to walk with her, and that's how the two of them ended up outside Nevin's front door.
Her keys were in her hands, and her heart was speeding up like when she was a little kid. Even after all this time, Matt still gave her the butterflies, which was cute, but also highly annoying because it was about two seconds away from giving the petite girl a fit of hiccups. That would completely ruin the wonderful night Nevin was having thusfar, and she didn't want it to end.
Nevin knew that her apartment was far from squeaky clean. She did her weekly cleaning regime a few days ago, but clutter had piled up. She knew that today's dishes were still waiting in the sink and mail and magazines were scattered across the table surfaces of the kitchen and living area. At least the main area was better than her room, which Matt wouldn't be seeing tonight, Nevin promised herself. And even though she was slightly embarrassed by the fact that her apartment wasn't that clean, she really didn't want Matthew to head on home and leave just yet.
"You want to come in? I can make something to eat or some coffee or something," she offered, trying to keep the nervousness from sounding in her voice.
No one had set foot in her apartment except for her, until now. That is assuming Matthew would take Nevin's offer, which she desperately hoped he would. And she also hoped that he wouldn't get the wrong idea because the two of them had done some not so nice things in the past with the help of some firewhiskey and hormones. There wasn't any alcohol tonight, and Nevin wasn't planning on it, but her hormones definitely raging at the moment. Maybe she could control herself until Matt left.
