A Non-Existent Future A yawn crept it's way out of Matthew's bristle-stricken face. It had been just over 4 years since he had last been at Hogsmeade, and it was extremeley refreshing. The beautiful mountainous area had slipped out of Matthew's mind for sometime, and this visit was much needed. After recently leaving University, he found himself bored, and with not much to do. It had also been a while since he had seen his girlfriend, Nevin. He couldn't believe how much he missed seeing her on campus, and now that school was done forever, real life started to kick in and the reality is, you don't see the people you want to see everyday. This had Matthew is something of a depressed mood, as he sat as his table alone, with nothing but a tall mug of firewhiskey to keep him on edge.
A scan of the room revieled that he was not alone. A few older Hogwarts students were scattered around and about, probably here on a Hogsmeade trip, but Matthew wasn't too sure. It had been so long since he was in school, he didn't even know if they still had Hogsmeade trips. This was probably not a good thing, seeing as he was currently going over some of his personal files, in hopes of applying for a job at Hogwarts School, the last place he thought he would end up. The truth is, he missed the school, and it played too big a part of his life to not be in it, and Matthew loved nothing more than helping others, except Nevin of course. He quickly pulled open the top folder, while sipping for his glass. The liquid felt fresh and warm in his mouth, and mad him squint his eyes as he swallowed. The first document revealed his grades at Hogwarts.
"Wow. I was smarter than." He mumbled out loud, and smiling to himself. His grades were definitley better than rather than University. "Maybe I should studied or something." He laughed, deciding that he should start somewhere also, and closing that file. He yawned again, deciding it was because of him staying up late and un-packing his apartment in Diagon Alley. Austin wasn’t really sure what he was doing anymore. The past few weeks had been rough, rougher than they had been in years. The days just seemed to blend together. It had gotten to the point where he had even lost track of what day it was, along with the date. All in all, the events had all left him lost and confused, with absolutely nobody to turn to. Nothing seemed to make sense anymore. It was almost as if the whole world had tipped upside down on him.
Well, that’s what happens when your girlfriend of four years decides to break up with you. With a sigh, Austin shouldered the door open to the Three Broomsticks. It was nostalgic, being back in the area he had spent so much time in. So many memories, most of which he’d rather not think about. Other memories he cherished with all his heart, tucking them away to be kept safe for all eternity. Austin hadn’t been back around this area for quite some time, even though he had just graduated a year ago. The past year had been too busy, filled with reality wake up calls and trying to juggle his life around. It had been hell.
And now Austin was ready for a drink. No, he wasn’t out to get wasted. If he wanted to do that, he’d be at home. Beside that, he didn’t drink to get completely wasted anymore. No, he had learned that life lesson years ago. It just wasn’t worth the consequences, as far as he was concerned. Lifting his dark eyes, Austin peered around his fringe of hair, looking for somewhere to sit. As usual, the place was bustling with activity, most looking as though they were still attending Hogwarts and were just there for the day. Flicking his head in a maneuver to move his bangs out of his face, Austin paused just passed the doorway, still searching for a place to sit.
Suddenly his attention was grasped by a man sitting at a table, by himself. Was that..could it be? Taking the necessary steps forward, Austin approached the table and promptly grabbed the back of a chair, pulling it out and dropping himself into it. Some things just didn’t change, and Austin Young was a person who didn’t change. The traits he had as a first year of Hogwarts were still the same; brash, rude and inconsiderate of most people’s feelings.
”Talk about a blast from the past.”
If Austin remembered correctly, the last time he had seen Matthew was the night where he, Piper and Nevin had all gotten drunk. Which had taken a turn for the worst, and was one of the reasons he didn’t get drunk anymore.

"Is there something I can help you wi-"
Matthew looked up from the files scattered along the table/his mug and saw standing before him a taller, and more man-like Austin Young. "Blimey mate! It's been years!" He bellowed standing up and grabbing Austin's hand. Matt and this much younger 'kid' hadn't been very close in Hogwarts, but Matthew could honestly say he didn't have many friends then, or now, and seeing anyone was a great treat. "Have a seat!" He exclaimed, pulling open a chair, and raising his hand, motioned for the bartender's attention. "A firewhiskey here for my friend."
Matthew pulled out his own chair and sat back looking up the old 'friend'. Still skinny, dark hair in face and outgoing. But...something was off. Matthew could tell right away. Whether it was the reactions to Matt's actions or just a general vibe, Matt felt something was up. He decided not to mention anything though. Probably best to keep it cool for now. Maybe it's nothing.
"How've you been mate? It's actually been years!" He finished, taking a large gulp from his drink, his eyes burned slightly, but Matthew was getting used to the feel and his eyes didn't water this time. As he set his mug down, the bartender set down a drink for Austin and continued on with his business.

A small chuckle escaped the man as Matthew realized who he was, proceeding to enthusiastically greet him. It was nice to know that people remembered him. Then again, Austin figured it was hard to miss someone like himself. Austin had gotten into far more trouble than he should have while at Hogwarts, that’s for sure. ”Yeah, I know. It’s been far too long.” He agreed, a grin growing on his lips. Opening his mouth, he almost wanted to protest against the fire whiskey, but then figured that just one couldn’t do any damage. It’s not like had anything to lose now anyways. ”Thanks.”
Sitting down, the dark haired man leaned forward, resting elbows on the table top and then propped his head up with the palms of his hands. Giving Matthew his full attention, he listened as he continued to talk away, finally finishing by asking how he had been. The question caused his grin to drop, his eyes turning towards the table as the drink was set before him. ”Ah..its been hard. Things got better for a while, but it’s spiraling downward again. Story of my life, yeah?”
Letting out almost a forced laugh, Austin picked up the firewhiskey and took a long drink from it. Setting it back down, he looked back over at his old friend, ”What about you? What have you been up to?” [/blockquote]
